Scoreboard
The scoreboard overlay on a stream shows the score, the period and the game clock. Each game has a scoreboard source that decides where those numbers come from. With the Studio source, the studio operator enters them by hand, in the web Studio or in the stream app.
Scoreboard sources
Section titled “Scoreboard sources”| Source | Where the numbers come from | Available on |
|---|---|---|
| Off | No scoreboard is shown on the stream. | Every game. |
| Camera | A picture-in-picture crop of the court’s physical scoreboard, filmed by the scoreboard camera. | Plus and Pro, on courts with a scoreboard camera. |
| Reader | The court’s Scoreboard Reader, connected to the physical scoreboard. | Plus and Pro, on courts with a Scoreboard Reader. |
| Studio | The studio operator, from the web Studio or the stream app. | Pro, basketball games only. |
Only the sources the game’s court and streaming tier support are offered. Lite streams have no scoreboard.
If you never choose a source, the game uses the only available source when there is exactly one. When more than one is available, it uses Off.
Where you can keep score
Section titled “Where you can keep score”You can keep score in two places. Both control the same scoreboard.
- Web Studio: the scoreboard controls in the Studio control bar.
- Stream app: the Scoreboard tab in the game’s details screen.
Choose the source
Section titled “Choose the source”Organisation owners, administrators and the game’s assigned studio operator can choose the source in three places:
- The game’s streaming settings. The Scoreboard field lists the available sources. Select one when you create or edit the game.
- Web Studio. Use the source picker in the Scoreboard heading of the control bar.
- Stream app. Tap a source at the top of the Scoreboard tab.
You can change the source while the stream is live, in any of these places. The change applies to the running stream without restarting it. This works on Plus (between Camera and Reader) as well as on Pro.
When a game is switched to Studio for the first time, the scoreboard starts at 0-0, Q1, 10:00, with the clock stopped.
Keep score in the web Studio
Section titled “Keep score in the web Studio”The scoreboard controls sit in the Studio control bar, next to the commentary controls. They appear for games that can use the Studio source.
The controls are active only while the source is Studio. On any other source they are dimmed and disabled, and a line tells you where the numbers come from (for example “Scores come from the reader” or “The scoreboard is off”). Switch the source to Studio in the picker to take over.
- The home team is on the left, the away team on the right.
- Click +1, +2 or +3 to add points.
- To correct a score, click the number, type the right value and press Enter. There are no minus buttons.
- Scores go from 0 to 999.
Period
Section titled “Period”- Use the arrows to go to the previous or next period.
- Periods run Q1 to Q4, then OT, OT2, OT3 and so on.
- Changing the period stops the clock and resets it to that period’s length: 10:00 for Q1 to Q4, 5:00 for overtime.
- Click the play button to start the clock. Click it again to pause.
- Click the reset button to stop the clock and set it back to the length of the current period.
- To set a specific time, click the clock, type it and press Enter. The clock goes up to 99:59.
Keep score in the stream app
Section titled “Keep score in the stream app”Open the game in the stream app and tap the Scoreboard tab. The tab appears when all of these are true:
- The game is a Pro livestream.
- The stream is live or paused. The tab is not shown before the stream starts or after it ends.
- You are an organisation owner or administrator, or the game’s assigned studio operator.
The score, period and clock controls are active only while the source is Studio. Tap Studio at the top of the tab to take over. If the connection drops, the tab shows Reconnecting… and the controls are disabled until it reconnects.
- Tap +1, +2 or +3 to add points. Tap -1 to take a point away.
- To set a score, tap the number and type the value.
- Scores go from 0 to 999.
Period
Section titled “Period”- Tap - or + to go to the previous or next period.
- Periods and clock resets work as in the web Studio: Q1 to Q4, then OT, OT2 and so on. Changing the period stops the clock and resets it to 10:00 (Q1 to Q4) or 5:00 (overtime).
- Tap Start to start the clock. Tap Pause to pause it.
- Tap the reset button to stop the clock and set it back to the length of the current period.
- To set a specific time, tap the clock and type the digits without a colon. For example, type
300for 3:00 or1000for 10:00. The clock goes up to 99:59.
What viewers see
Section titled “What viewers see”- Viewers see the score, period and clock exactly as the operator’s controls show them. Every change is sent immediately, and the clock is sent about once a second while it runs.
- If you reload the web Studio or reopen the game in the stream app, the controls come back with the current score, period and clock.
- If more than one person has the game open, in the web Studio, the stream app or both, they all see the same scoreboard. A change made by one appears for the others.
- The next game on the same court starts from a fresh scoreboard.
